HOW TO JOURNAL

The Gift of Journaling

It’s a fun story of mine TO TELL that when I first moved here from Honduras at the age of 7, my first Christmas gift request to Santa was a diary. Not just any diary, a battery-operated diary with a lock. Santa wasn’t able to “make” this dream (and expensive!) diary of mine in time, instead he opted to “make” me a different, much simPler diary. I was just as ecstatic that Santa even left me a gift.

Anyways – the point being of this story is that I have always had a love for writing my thoughts down even as a small child, not even knowing the wonderful benefits of that.

As I grew older, I stopped jotting down my thoughts, being that I thought it was too time consuming or it just wasn’t cool enough for me anymore, so I stopped.

Now as an adult, I’ve re-learned my love for writing (with this blog) and for privately journaling.

I have tried many different types of journaling methods such as: The Happiness Planner and The Five Minute Journal. both of these journals are wonderful and highly recommended methods of journaling.

however, After trying various journaling methods out, I personally felt like I wasn’t asking myself the right questions at the time for what I was going through, so I just began journaling with the Zee Perfect Gift notebook and pen.

Simplicity at its finest.

That’s it. No gimmicks.

and That’s WHAT workS for me.

Granted – If i’m being fully honest and transparent here, I don’t journal every day and I definitely should be, because If you’re like me, an empath, we hold many emotions and feelings inside from not just ourselves but also the ones that we pick up from others, which journaling can really help us work through.

journaling is solely a great tool to gather your thoughts or even to get your thoughts together, because most of the time we’re thinking a lot but we’re not truly understanding WHY we’re thinking this or WHAT we’re even thinking.

Long story short: what works for me, will not work for you, but I suggest you give various journaling methods a try and see what works best for you. The beauty is in trial and error.

Journaling can be as simple as:

  • What’s on your to-do list today?

  • How can I practice self-love or self-kindness today?

  • WHAT AM I GRATEFUL FOR TODAY?

  • WHAT IS MY INTENTION FOR THE DAY?

Or can go as deep as:

  • How aM I doing today?

  • how am I feeling today?

  • How can I work through thEsE FEELINGS?

  • What resources do I need to work through this RIGHT NOW?

So, let’s light up a candle, face our feelings, and journal.

Give it a shot and let me know what ends up working for you in the comments below.
